Scott McTominay, Kieran Tierney and Che Adams return to the Scotland squad for the remaining Nations League matches, at home to North Macedonia and away to Switzerland. McTominay missed club and country games in September and October after a minor heart procedure.
James Penrice earns a first call-up, and uncapped Kristi Montgomery, a late addition last time, keeps his place. Scott McKenna and Kenny McLean miss out through injury. Lennon Miller, Josh Doig, Colby Donovan and James Wilson drop out of the squad.
Squad reshaped after struggles
Head coach Sebastien Pocognoli named an extended pool of 28 for the first four matches, which included disappointing home defeats to Switzerland and Slovenia. For these fixtures, the Belgian has selected 26 players, retaining four goalkeepers.
Scotland sit third in Group B1 and need a minimum of four points to have any chance of finishing second and reaching the promotion play-offs. One point would remove any threat of relegation. Switzerland lead the group on maximum points, with Slovenia three points ahead of Scotland.
Key returnees and newcomers
Left-back Penrice, 27, has impressed with Rangers since arriving on loan from AEK Athens. Blackburn Rovers midfielder Montgomery, 22, has started all but one Championship match this season.
McTominay, of Napoli, has scored four goals in seven outings since recovering from his heart procedure. Adams has doubled his Torino tally for the season, with two goals in five Serie A games following a brief lay-off with an adductor issue.
Robertson poised for milestone
Captain Andy Robertson will surpass Sir Kenny Dalglish’s Scotland record of 102 caps if the Tottenham full-back features in both matches, on 13 and 16 November.
